Bicycle vacation Malaysia
From Bangkok to Singapore by bicycle (II)
Bicycling along endless rice fields and in tropical rainforest, where signs warn you for 'crossing elephants'. In Muslim villages, signs show how to wear a veil. One day it's slipping and sliding over tree roots, another day it's walking between the tops of giant trees. 14 photos.

Kuala Lumpur and Penang
The contrast between a modern city and an overwhelming nature
In Kuala Lumpur and on the isle of Penang one finds friendly and helpful people everywhere; but there is a strong contrast between the modern city with its Petronas Twin Towers and other skyscrapers and the overwhelming nature of Penang, where fishers ride their motopeds up the rickety landing, where the little houses in the kampongs have corrugated iron roofs and the monkeys on the beach eat out of your hand. 21 photos.

Touring Sabah, Borneo
Colorful markets, jungle and tropical islands
The inland of Sabah, a Malaysian province on the island of Borneo, has rainforest in which urang utans and macaques live. Along the coast palm oil plantations catch the eye between ricefields, mangrove forests and sandy beaches. Off the coast are groups of islands like the Turtle Islands and Pulau Tiga. Fishermen go out to sea in little boats or wade in shallow water, fishing with lances. In villages and towns one finds colorful markets and wooden houses on poles. 48 photos.
