Best time to travel

In July and August, temperatures run into the 40s (centigrade). These months are not really great for this kind of trip. April, May and early June are perfect: the temperature is pleasant, even though there can be showers until the end of May. The landscape is green and the roadsides are overgrown with flowers. Autumn is good as well, but the landscape will be dry and bare.

Money

If you know which places you are going to visit, you can find out online if and where there are ATM's that you can use with MasterCard and Cirrus or Visa

Language

Outside the tourist areas, even the staff of Turismo offices only speak Spanish. It is wise to bring a phrase book if you don't speak Spanish.

Opening hours

Stores are closed from 2-5 PM for siesta and then stay open until the evening. In the morning they don't open early, so if you plan a day trip, get your provisions the day before.
