Best time to travel

During the summer it's too hot on Corfu for bicycling. Also, the island is then swamped with tourists, mostly Brits and Dutch of the loud kind. The largest concentrations are found in the endless apartment and hotel resorts around Dassia, Gouvia and Benitses on the east coast.

The best times to travel are spring (March through May) and autumn (September and October). In the spring there are more flowers (even though Corfu is always green, it is the greenest island of Greece), but the sea is still cool.

Accomodation

There are enough camping sites in Corfu, but dragging along tent and cooking equipment is actually unnecessary. There are cheap hotels, apartments and rooms in private homes everywhere.

Money

If you know in advance which places you're going to visit, you can find out online if and where there are ATM's where you can use your MasterCard and Cirrus or Visa to withdraw money.
